The Arc Lexington and Transitions celebrate CEO Shaloni Winston named a 2025 Remarkable Woman
Winston recognized at national ceremony in Hollywood
GLOVERSVILLE, NY – The Arc Lexington and Transitions are proud to announce that Shaloni Winston, CEO of The Arc Lexington and founder of Transitions, has been named the 2025 Remarkable Woman of the Capital Region by Nexstar Media Group.
Each year during Women’s History Month, Nexstar honors women across the country who are making a meaningful difference in their communities. This year, more than 12,000 nominations were submitted nationwide, with 125 local winners selected—each representing their region in a national celebration of leadership, service, and impact.
Winston was chosen for her unwavering advocacy and life-changing work supporting individuals with developmental disabilities—particularly her creation of Transitions, a program that empowers young adults with autism and learning differences to thrive in college, careers, and independent living. Founded in 2015, Transitions now serves over 110 students across three campuses in New York’s Capital Region, welcoming participants from across the country and abroad.
Earlier this month Winston traveled to Hollywood, California to represent the Capital Region at a national celebration hosted by Brooke Burke. There, she joined 124 other local honorees for a televised event highlighting the resilience, achievements, and stories of women making an extraordinary difference. As part of her recognition, Winston was also awarded $1,000 to donate to the nonprofit of her choice—and she selected Transitions.
“I still can’t quite believe it,” said Winston. “Being in Hollywood and surrounded by so many incredible women was both humbling and inspiring. But what meant the most was having the chance to share the story of Transitions and the students who continue to amaze me every day. This isn’t just my recognition—it belongs to our entire team, our families, and especially my daughter, who inspired it all.”
